I'm going to talk to you a little bit about oral sedation. Oral sedation is what we use in our practice most of the time. Oral sedation is a process where you're able to take a pill, usually one the night before to relax you before you go to sleep. Another pill to take an hour before you come into our office. Of course, you have to be escorted with a ride, but the point is, is that you come to your appointment and you're comfortable. And it provides an experience that allows a general dentist to perform all of our procedures in the most extreme comfort for the patient.
Our experience with patients who have had oral sedation is that we're able to do longer procedures. We can get all the work usually a patient wants to get done in one sitting. One of the biggest advantages too is that a patient goes home, they'll go to sleep, and when they wake up, they don't remember a lot of what's been done. So oral sedation is just custom-made for dentistry.
We have many patients that, either in their childhood or adulthood, have had a bad experience. Oral sedation is a powerful tool to allow you to overcome that extreme stress and anxiety of having dental procedures done, and it has worked miraculously for some patients in our office. Without it, they couldn't get their treatment done.
