Dental Implants
Dental Implants Can Change Your Life
A lost tooth is more than just a missing piece of your smile. A lost tooth also means that you lost tooth roots, and without the stimulation they provide, your jawbone will lose density. This can cause a host of oral issues, including:
Teeth that shift, causing your bite to change
A jaw that looks withered and "sunken"
More tooth loss with the weakening of the jaw
Dental implants prevent these problems by acting as replacement tooth roots. The implant is a titanium device that is placed into the jawbone, stimulating the jawbone and signaling to the body to retain bone tissue in that area. Next to having your natural teeth, prosthetics attached to an implant and an abutment (the device that attaches the replacement tooth to the implant) are the best option for restoring a compromised bite.
Dr. Phillips' Lutcher, Louisiana, practice maintains a special focus on tooth replacement using dental implants.

Tired of Missing Teeth? See If Dental Implants Are Right For You
Living with missing teeth means living with a weakened bite, which can limit food choices. With dental implants, you can use dentures and any other type of replacement tooth to bite and chew any foods you want. With a stronger bite and a natural-looking restoration, you won't have to worry about limiting your diet.
Greg Phillips, DDS, can examine the health of your jawbone to see if it has enough density to hold implants. If you need a preliminary bone graft, he can provide this procedure himself, giving you exceptional continuity of care. He can also review the health of every tooth and replace those that are damaged or too infected to treat.
It doesn't matter if you have lost one tooth or a whole arch of teeth, our dentist can accommodate you with dental implant-supported crowns, bridges, and dentures. Request a consultation online today or contact our Lutcher office by phone.

Very friendly staff. The wait time for my kids were less than 10 minutes. Hygienist was very thorough and informative about my needs as well as my kiddos. We started there a few years back when we relocated to Saint James. The extended hours, friendly, thorough and caring staff really sold it. I've recommended it to many.

Dental Implant Candidacy
Our dentist encourages anyone interested in implant-supported crowns, bridges, or dentures to contact our Lutcher office. While an in-person exam is the only way to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants, these are some basic characteristics that patients must have before they can be recommended for this oral surgery:
Good Health
Your oral cavity must be in good health for the titanium posts to successfully fuse with your jawbone. Gum disease, infected teeth, and other oral issues can interfere with your surgery. Our dentist can perform virtually any restorative procedure to rehabilitate your gums and teeth, reinstating your candidacy for implants, abutments, and restorations.
Strong Jawbone
Your jawbone must have sufficient density to support the implants. If you have suffered extensive jawbone atrophy, a bone grafting procedure can replace recessed bone tissue, preparing you for implant placement and the subsequent attachment of an abutment and replacement teeth.
Patience
It takes three to six months for the dental implants to completely fuse with the jawbone. In the meantime, we will provide temporary restorations, but it is important to understand that you will not receive your permanent replacement teeth until healing is complete.
Missing a Full Arch of Teeth? Ask Our Dentist About Special Techniques for Dentures
Thanks to the latest dental techniques, full-arch dentures can be secured to the upper or lower jaws with just four or six implants. The All-on-4® and All-on-6® methods can be performed by our dentist even if the patient has suffered some jawbone atrophy, often without a bone graft. The implants are strategically placed into the jawbone to maximize contact between the implants and the remaining jawbone tissue for outstanding support.
The All-on-4 and All-on-6 methods enable our dentist to place your dentures on the same day as your implants, giving you immediate teeth.
Dental Implant Surgery is Virtually Painless
To make your surgery as painless as possible, Dr. Phillips offers oral sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation. These are great options for patients who have difficulty sitting still, dental phobia, or a sensitive gag reflex.
